Before adjusting, make sure you have set the TV settings correctly.
For steps 1 and 2 in HGIG mode of your TV, get the symbol to become invisible. Try to find data about the peak brightness of your TV on the site RTINGS.COM. Knowing the peak brightness of your TV, you can check the values using the table:

If your TV always does Tone Mapping and it cannot be turned off, then this setup wizard is not relevant for your TV. In this case, set the value to a few thousand nits in steps 1 and 2.
For step 3, set the black level to minimum (0 clicks). If the image of the game seems too contrasty to you, then you can try increasing the step 3 value by 1-2 clicks up.
Any idea what the numbers are for the PS4's calibration menu? Seems to be 14 notches from the far left is correct for me on an LG OLED B9 which is supposed to be ~600 nits. 14 just makes the logo disappear with HGIG enabled.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I don't have ps4 to check it now
DeleteAh, no problem. Thanks for the resources on the site.
DeleteWith HGIG enabled you do want to increase the brightness in steps 1 and 2 until the logo just disappears, right? Or one notch below that where it's plainly visible?
Increase the brightness until the logo just disappears
